Kate Ronan is a Human Resources & Employee Benefits consultant with more than 15 years of experience in manufacturing and corporate environments. Her ability to communicate fluently in both Spanish and English gives her the flexibility to work effectively in diverse work settings. Kate’s consulting focus includes:

Experience
As an HR and benefits specialist, Kate places a high priority on improving HR processes, heightening employee awareness of critical issues, and reducing costs through innovative approaches to risk management.

Kate is well-positioned to add value in these key areas:
  • Conduct bi-lingual and paperless open enrollments
  • Administer cash balance, defined contribution, and defined benefit plans
  • Manage rate renewals for self-funded, minimum-premium as well as fully-insured plans
  • Launch Health Savings Accounts and other forms of consumer-driven health care programs
  • Develop well-integrated short-term and long-term disability plans
  • Write summary plan descriptions to explain the connections between the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), parental leave and Long Term Disability (LTD)
  • Train managers and supervisors on FMLA plan details and requirements
  • Reduce workers’ compensation premiums by producing creative safety and ergonomic training programs
  • Create employee wellness campaigns
  • Develop a variety of “soft” benefits to help employees improve their work/life balances – from annual health fairs and screenings and yoga to employee newsletters and monthly “lunch & learn” events
  • Secure H-1 visas and Resident Alien cards for skilled and unskilled workers without legal fees

Education & Credentials
Kate, the former benefits manager for a major Chicago law firm, received her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish from the University of Illinois in Champagne-Urbana and her MBA from Northern Illinois University. She is proficient in both HRIS and office systems.
